Les anges, nominés par les Chantiers du Cardinal, de retour au séminaire Saint-Sulpice
Le groupe sculpté des anges, L’assomption du monde sauvé par la Croix, revient au séminaire Saint-Sulpice jeudi 15 décembre. En bronze sculpté, ce groupe d’une hauteur de 3,30 mètres, d’une largeur de 3,80 mètres et d’une profondeur de 1,50 mètres, s’est fait restaurer par la Fonderie de Coubertin à Saint Rémy-les-Chevreuse.
Dans un premier temps, la Fonderie va déplacer ce groupe de Saint-Rémy jusqu’à Issy-les-Moulineaux pour le déposer dans la cour au chevet de la Grande Chapelle. Le camion semi-remorque qui transportera ces 3 tonnes de bronze doit arriver jeudi matin à partir de 7h30. La logistique est telle que l’accès à la rue Vaudetard sera un peu moins aisé pendant le déchargement du groupe.
Dans un second temps, à la mi-janvier, la Fonderie de Coubertin procédera à la repose de ce groupe sur le pinacle de la Grande Chapelle. Ce sera un travail de précision qui nécessitera des calculs complexes pour que les anges puissent « s’envoler » et se placer sur le pinacle en douceur. Après avoir emprunté la voie de terre, les anges emprunteront la voie des airs… Là aussi, la logistique et la sécurité voudront que l’accès des deux rues soit rendu plus difficile au trafic pendant le temps de l’opération.
Il est prévu que début janvier la porte du Séminaire soit ouverte au public pour qu’il puisse admirer de façon exceptionnelle ce groupe d’anges, encore à terre.
Pèlerin magazine et les Chantiers du Cardinal viennent de décerner à ce groupe sculpté –œuvre unique d’art chrétien, d’après les fondeurs- un prix à la Compagnie des Prêtres de Saint-Sulpice, dans le cadre de son concours annuel Un Patrimoine pour Demain, récompensant ainsi le souci de la Compagnie à entretenir son patrimoine historique pour le bien de tous.
The Saint-Sulpice seminary angels are back
The sculpted group of angels, The Assumption of the World saved by the Cross, is coming back to the Saint-Sulpice seminary on Thursday 15 December. Made of bronze, this sculpture 3.30 metres high, 3.80 metres wide and 1.50 metres deep has just been restored by the Coubertin Foundry (Fonderie de Coubertin) located in the Chevreuse valley by Versailles (Saint Rémy les Chevreuse).
In the first phase, the Foundry is moving this sculpted group from Saint-Rémy to Issy-les-Moulineaux to place it in the yard at the chevet of the Grand Chapel. The articulated lorry transporting these 3 tons of bronze will arrive Thursday morning around 7:30 am. The logistics are such that the traffic will be made difficult in the streets, ie. rue Vaudétard, during the unloading.
In the second phase, mid-January, the Fonderie de Coubertin will be fitting the group back onto the pinnacle of the Grand Chapel. This will be a high precision process requiring very sophisticated calculations so that the angels may « fly up » and placed very delicately on the pinnacle. After having travelled on earth, they will be travelling in the sky… There too, logistics and safety will require that the traffic be slowed during the transfer operations.
Plans are to open the door of the seminary early January so that the public may approach and admire in an exceptional way this sculpted group of angels, while they are still on earth!
Pèlerin magazine and the Chantiers du Cardinal have just granted the Society of Priests of Saint-Sulpice an award for this unique Christian masterpiece as part of its annual competition Un Patrimoine pour Demain (A Heritage for Tomorrow), thus rewarding the Society’s concern about maintaining its historic heritage for the good of all.
