Ordination de jeunes prêtres en Nouvelle-Calédonie
Montréal (Canada), le 8 juillet 2012 - A l’occasion du cinquantième anniversaire du concile Vatican II, la Compagnie des Prêtres de Saint-Sulpice organise pour ses membres du monde entier un symposium sur la formation actuelle des prêtres du 8 au 18 juillet à Montréal au Grand Séminaire.
Chacune des trois provinces envoie une délégation de huit prêtres sulpiciens, formateurs de prêtres. Au total, ils seront plus d’une trentaine de participants qui réfléchiront sur le thème « Former des prêtres aujourd’hui : le sacerdoce du 21e siècle à la lumière de Vatican II et de la tradition de Saint-Sulpice ».
Parmi les conférenciers se trouvent Msgr. Kevin Irwin du Catholic University of America (Washington, USA), le père Bernard Pitaud, sulpicien, supérieur provincial de France, Mgr Albert Giraldo Jaramillo, sulpicien, archevêque émérite de Medellín (Colombie), Mgr Georges Soubrier, sulpicien, évêque émérite de Nantes (France) et le cardinal Edwin F. O’Brien, archevêque émérite de Baltimore (USA). Ils vont présenter quelques réflexions sur la formation des prêtres à partir de leur expérience épiscopale.
Le cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, archevêque de Montréal, préside la Messe d’ouverture et Mgr Emilius Goulet va présider l’une des Messes au cours du symposium.
La Compagnie des Prêtres de Saint-Sulpice, dont la mission dans l’Eglise universelle est la formation initiale et permanente des prêtres, est soucieuse de susciter et d’assurer un environnement favorable et durable à cette formation. « Je vous donnerai des pasteurs selon mon cœur » (Jer 3, 15). Elle cherche à entretenir son patrimoine historique et à favoriser les projets qui permettent à ses formateurs actuels et futurs d’assurer toujours une formation de grande qualité, où qu’ils soient dans le monde. Ordination of young priests in New Caledonia
Montreal, Canada, 8 July, 2012 – To celebrate the golden jubilee of the Second Vatican Council, the Society of the Priests of Saint-Sulpice is organising a gathering of its worldwide members on forming priests for today. It is held in Montreal (Canada) at the Grand Séminaire from July 8 to 18, 2012.
The three provinces are each sending a delegation of eight Sulpicians, priests formators of priests. In total, there will be over thirty participants sharing on the theme “Forming Priests for Today: Priesthood in the 21st Century in Light of the Traditions of Vatican II and Saint-Sulpice”.
Among the presenters are Msgr. Kevin Irwin of The Catholic University of America (Washington, USA), Father Bernard Pitaud, sulpician, Provincial of France, Mgr Albert Giraldo Jaramillo, sulpician, Archbishop Emeritus of Medellín (Colombia), Mgr Georges Soubrier, sulpician, Bishop Emeritus of Nantes (France) and Cardinal Edwin F. O’Brien, Archbishop Emeritus of Baltimore (USA). They will offer reflections on priestly formation from the perspective of their episcopal experience.
Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, Archbishop of Montreal, is presiding at the opening Mass and Sulpician confrere Mgr. Emilius Goulet will preside at one of the liturgies during the symposium.
The Society of the Priests of Saint-Sulpice, whose mission in the universal Church is the initial and permanent formation of priests, is very anxious to enhance and assure a favourable and long-lasting environment for this formation. “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart” (Jer 3, 15). It seeks to maintain its heritage and to encourage projects which enable its current and future formators to give high-quality formation, wherever they be in the world.
